Effective and selective hydrogen formation from biomass through hydrothermal reaction

The effects of various additives, such as an inorganic alkali and metal catalyst, on the hydrothermal process were examined to recover hydrogen from biomass with high efficiency and selectivity at relatively low temperatures around 400°C. At first, a cellulose sample as a model biomass was subjected to the hydrothermal process at 400°C under 25 MPa in the presence of an alkali, sodium carbonate...

Density Functional Study of Reactions of Phenoxides with Polycarbonate

Density functional calculations with simulated annealing have been used to study the reactions of chains of bisphenol A polycarbonate (BPA-PC) with sodium phenoxide (NaOPh), diphenyl carbonate (DPC), and tetraphenylphosphonium phenoxide (PPh4OPh). These calculations extend our work on the reactions of LiOPh, NaOPh, and phenol with the cyclic tetramer of BPA-PC. We study, in particular, chain gr...

Hydrothermal source of radiogenic Sr to Himalayan rivers

Hot-spring waters near the Main Central thrust in the Marsyandi River of central Nepal have Sr concentrations to 115 mM with 87Sr/86Sr to 0.77. Small amounts of hydrothermal water (#1% of total river discharge) have a significant impact on the solute chemistry and the budget of radiogenic Sr in the Marsyandi. In the upper Marsyandi, river chemistry reflects carbonate weathering, with 87Sr/86Sr ...

Methane- and sulfur-metabolizing microbial communities dominate the Lost City hydrothermal field ecosystem.

Hydrothermal venting and the formation of carbonate chimneys in the Lost City hydrothermal field (LCHF) are driven predominantly by serpentinization reactions and cooling of mantle rocks, resulting in a highly reducing, high-pH environment with abundant dissolved hydrogen and methane. Phylogenetic and terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analyses of 16S rRNA genes in fluids and car...

سینتیک تشویه پنتا اکسید وانادیم با کربنات سدیم

Vanadium is distributed widely and scarcely (150 ppm) on the earth. Its major applications are in steelmaking, dye-production and catalyst-fabrication industries. With the ever-increasing demand for this metal, secondary resource-exploitation of such waste materials as spent catalysts is recommended. Many reactions are involved in vanadium-extraction from these resources. Since roasting in comp...
